Profile of Quinn De Vecchi

Written by Alice Song

Quinn De Vecchi is a senior Creative Writing major at IAA living in Dow House.

Originally from Hallandale Beach, Florida, Quinn spent 14 years there before relocating with their family first to Denver and more recently to Aurora, Colorado. They are one of four siblings: twin sister Allegra, a dancer at Colorado Ballet Academy; older sister Skyla, 22; and younger sister Alex, 13. The household also includes two dogs, Echo and Pacha.

Quinn’s hobbies include morning walks to watch the sunrise, resistance training workouts, and films. Movies have been a constant in their life, with Jurassic Park standing out as a favorite.

“I was kind-of raised on it,” they said, recalling a childhood visit to Universal Studios’ now-closed Jurassic Park ride, though at the time they were too short to go on it. What continues to draw them to the franchise, they explained, is its sense of justice: “I like dinosaurs eating people, especially if they deserve it,” they added, pointing to the greedy executives who so often meet their end on screen.

This past summer, Quinn spent six weeks in Belgium visiting family, then two weeks in Maine, toured Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and made a stop in New York City before returning home to Denver.

Now in their final year at IAA, Quinn is looking ahead to college with anticipation and nerves. In the meantime, they’re excited to contribute to the school newspaper. They’re especially interested in reviews and hope to see more coverage of films and other media, starting with the new Superman movie.
