Profile of Penelope Ingram

Written by Malik Joseph

Penelope Ingram is a two-year senior from Detroit, Michigan, and an astonishing singer within IAA’s Popular Performance major. As Penelope has stated herself, “I feel most at home on stage.” She is very dedicated and stops at nothing to ensure she assists the community around her.

While Penelope does have a lot on her plate attending one of the most rigorous art schools in the world, she looks to the future with excitement instead of fear. Penelope believes there is a beauty within things that are temporary, further illuminating her ability to look ahead with a smile on her face. She values the life around her so much that she and her father once embarked on a 7:00 am journey to help the homeless.

Penelope favors English as her favorite subject, stating, “It’s so connected to songwriting.” Although some might feel negatively about English class due to the amount of writing and time it takes to learn about different patterns of language and expression, Penelope says, “I love learning how to use my words to best communicate to an audience and, more importantly, myself.”

Penelope loves Lauren Daigle over many other artists because her popularity stemmed from making music for Christ. Lauren was unapologetic, authentic, and when making music for the Lord, she shined the brightest. Penelope loves Lauren and looks up to her because of her excellent pursuit. As Penelope continues to strive for greatness, she is unyielding in her pursuit of it and is a light to those around her!
