Profile of Mai Singh

Written by Caroline Daniels

Mai Singh, a two-year senior, is a Singer-Songwriter here at IAA. She describes her passion for singing and songwriting—and the arts in general—to have started at the young age of four. She describes her art form as “a huge part of processing, and an outlet for [herself].”

In addition to singing and writing songs, Mai finds herself sketching and drawing in her free time. She is originally from Westchester, New York, and now lives in Surrey, England—just an hour’s train ride into the city of London—when not at IAA. Her favorite food is a New York-style pepperoni pizza.

Mai stated that her biggest pet peeve is when people mumble under their breath and don’t repeat what they said. Mai’s favorite color is a mix between greens and blues, which she wants to put streaks of in her hair in the future.

When asked where Mai wanted to be in twenty years, she said, “I would love to live in a little shack in the east islands of the Caribbean.” There, she wants to continue to pursue her art if at all possible. When asked what her favorite part of IAA as a whole is, she commented, “The people. Even the ones I’m not too close with. It’s a beautiful community.”
