A Spook Fest: IAA’s Annual Halloween Dance

The Halloween Dance is an annual event held this year on Oct. 24 in Fine Arts on IAA’s campus. Within this event, costumes are worn, beverages and snacks are served, and the Popular Music Ensemble plays live music!

Since the dance was held so close to such a spooky holiday, the Pop Ensemble played a multitude of Halloween themed songs: “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, “Time Warp by Nell Campbell, and “Psycho Killer” by Talking Heads.

Due to the high number of students in this venue, space was limited, and Fine Arts was packed. During this performance, the Pop Ensemble collaborated with Music Production and Engineering majors Connor Delbridge, a three-year junior, and Jules Sohn, a four-year senior, to bring forth quality sound during the show.

Event heads Sydney Kassekert, a four-year Singer-Songwriter, and Ian Aarts, a four-year Popular Music major, were interviewed after the show.

Ian stated, “I thought the show harbored elements that were better than every Halloween show years prior, and tearing down ran pretty efficiently.”

“I hadn't had that much fun in a while!” Sydney Kassekert commented, “I loved singing ‘Toxic’ by Brittney Spears!”

Many students who attended shared positive remarks as well, like student Linda Craig, a two-year Film and New Media major, who mentioned, “[It] was an awesome time, everyone did so good!”

Many positive remarks filled the air after the dance and many wait with excitement for next year's Halloween Dance!
